Micromechanical analysis for evaluation of voids effect on thermoelastic properties of composites via 1D higher-order theories

Abstract. The present work presents statistical results of numerical simulations to investigate the effect different void percentages on composite materials’ coefficient thermal expansion (CTE). A random distribution voids is simulated over Representative Volume Element (RVE) matrix. use a high-order beam model within framework Carrera Unified Formulation (CUF) leads Component Wise (CW) description cross-section. Numerical for fiber volume fractions and concentration are carried out, comparison with references from literature demonstrates agreement in average CTE trend.
